Artist Statement
Silvina Batista (Argentina, 1973) is a contemporary photographer whose work explores identity, moods, and symbolic landscapes through the stages of photography and poetic self-portraiture.
With a conceptual approach, her practice uses the body as a narrative resource, constructing images that oscillate between presence and absence, intimacy and distance. Her photographs evoke silent atmospheres, where light, gesture, and space become carriers of emotional and symbolic meaning.
Batista’s work has been exhibited in Argentina and internationally. Her 2020 Self-Portraits book is part of the permanent collection of the Centre Ceramique Library in Maastricht, the Netherlands. She has been recommended by Stella Sidi, Alberto Natan, Centro Cultural Sabato, and Singulart Gallery for presentation at participating galleries in Paris Photo, further strengthening the international reach of her work within the contemporary photography scene.
She currently lives and works in Argentina.
